That said NoS is a fantastic skill for Pro-elfs with dump off, but pro-elf catchers are the only players who should ever take NoS. And by continuing to take and use NoS you are never actually learning how all elfs need to work the positional game. If NoS is your crutch then I suggest you don't understand how to properly position your elfs in the first place. Linemen: Dodge, block, wrestle, guard, mighty blow, 1 kicker down the line when you have the skills to opportunize on a good blitz event. If you need to stall and your opponent pressures thrower, then pass up field to a player with defensive skills and screen him off.īlitzers: Dodge, tackle, sidestep, guard, mighty blow Always take accurate first unless you get agility 5 (although there are good arguments for taking strong arm first as well) Don't put him in a position where he can get sacked, use him in the backfield to pass to a midfield catcher who then does a handoff to the scorer. Anything that can help him pick it up and be good at passing long distances from the back field both saving you rerolls and giving your team time to get into threatening positions. If you move thrower down field where he could get hit in a cage dive, then you might as well not have one.You want accurate, surehands, strong arm, agility, movement. Between Dodge, Block, sidestep, and any agility, str, or movement ups, a catcher has plenty of better things to get.ĭon't get defensive skills on your thrower. I would normally not take NoS, although it can be a nice crutch. They do start with a more full elf roster than most but I'm hard-pressed to recommend them over a different elf team.I'm no pro. Just because they're the worst elf team doesn't mean they're a bad team, however. They don't have anything special about them. Their blitzers are the best thing about them, especially because they're early blodge+sidestep, but every other elf blitzer (except dancers) are one level away from reaching the same skills. Make no mistake, just because they have the cheapest elf linemen doesn't mean you'll be able to field a full roster on a team with widespread AV 7. I'd rather pay just 10k more for the additional armor on a dark elf or +MA on a wood elf. High elf catchers have the same stat line but armor 8 on everyone else. Wood elf catchers may lack the 3 strength, but they start with both dodge and sprint. NOS isn't going to be a game-changer very often. Their catchers being 3 strength is great but nerves of steel, in most games, turns a 2+ into a 3+ for a play - when you already have catch. They are just as squishy as wood elf (the tree non-withstanding) but with not as much upsides. Pro Elf is what I'd consider the "worst" elf team. If you're looking to have two teams that are true opposites though, Pro Elves and Orcs is a good pairing. They're a little more forgiving, with AV8 on most of their players, and having 4 Blitzers is great. As a bash coach though, you might want to consider Dark Elves instead. Pro Elves are overall a good team if you want to play finesse Blood Bowl. While they can score with the best of them right out the gate, if you want to be successful over a full season, you need to develop them quick, to get Blodge, and hope you don't lose your Catchers in the first couple games. Fortunately, their linemen are the cheapest of all elves, at 60k. Their downside, is they are super frail, with only the Blitzers having AV8. They do Elf BS better than anyone else at TV 1000, and the Catchers have a Wardancer's stat-line, along with Nerves of Steel, meaning the only way to truly prevent them from scoring, is to remove them from the pitch.
